Wednesday, 24th February 15.30-16.30

SHEDTalk with guest speaker Joe Marshall, NCUB.

Joe Marshall, CEO of the National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB) will be joining Sean Fielding, PraxisAuril immediate past Chair, for our next ShedTalk. Sean and Joe will discuss some of the enduring challenges of knowledge exchange, how the future looks for university-business collaboration, and how PraxisAuril and NCUB can work together to rebuild and renew by strengthening the research and innovation system.

NCUB supports university-business collaboration across the UK. By drawing on senior leaders from across its business and university member base, it reviews and makes recommendations on the UK’s long-term skills, talent, and innovation needs. It’s annual ‘State of the Relationship’ report showcases the diverse impacts arising from successful university-business collaboration and it has led a number of reviews looking at demand and supply issues in knowledge exchange. In 2020, the NCUB team convened an R&D Taskforce – with contributions from several PraxisAuril members – to determine how the UK can ‘build back better’ after the pandemic and achieve the target 2.4% investment in R&D.  Its work with the new commercialisation policy unit at Cambridge University seeks to understand how the dynamics of university-business collaboration have been affected by the still unfolding economic crisis.
