The PraxisAuril South West regional network meeting will be hosted by Cardiff University on Wednesday 5 February 2020, 1:00 – 5.00pm.

Provisional agenda as follows:

Lunch- 1pm- 2 pm

‘Best practice in Technology Transfer’ session

Our researchers here at Cardiff are working across disciplines to tackle major challenges facing society, the economy and our environment. Come along to this workshop to find out how Cardiff University professional services departments support academics with protecting their research, commercialising their research outcomes and providing expert advice on wider research activities.

2 pm - 2.10 pm: Introduction to the afternoon

2.10 pm - 2.30 pm: Funding and investment

A representative from the Development bank of Wales will discuss the work they do. The Development Bank of Wales was set up by the Welsh Government to support the economy of Wales by making it easier for businesses to get the finance needed to start up, strengthen and grow.

2.30 pm – 3 pm: Office structures and how we work- Cardiff University

Rhian North, TTO at Cardiff University will be talking about our team structure and how the TTO works with other teams within research and innovation services and the wider University.

3 pm - 3.15 pm- Refreshments/networking break

3.15 pm - 3.45 pm- Innovation Central: The future direction of Research Innovation

Sally O’Connor (SPARK Project manager) will be discussing Cardiff University's innovation central building and the vision for how this will allow collaborative working within cross disciplinary research within Cardiff University as well as external organisations. 

3.45pm - 4.15 pm - Raising the profile and significance of commercialising social sciences research

The ASPECT project will be introduced with a discussion on how universities can get involved to drive their engagement and commercialisation in the Social Sciences.

4.15 pm – 5 pm – Close/Further networking opportunities

This meeting is a free of charge PraxisAuril member-only event.
